THE FACTS ABOUT MINIMALLY INVASIVE HERNIA REPAIR
Background
Most common in the abdominal wall, a hernia is a bulge of tissue caused by a weak area or tear in the muscle through which tissue protrudes. Organs, such as the intestine, can then push through the weakened muscle causing a hernia. This can cause pain, discomfort and a noticeable bulge under the skin. If the intestine gets caught in the hernia and loses its blood supply it can be a serious health risk to you. Symptoms tend to get worse by lifting heavy objects of over exertion during activities ranging from sports to gardening.
